Settling In!

Well, now that we have been home a week we wanted to give you all an update. Finally, we are over the jet lag that seemed to linger for days. Everyone is sleeping through the night and now healthy. Joshua, Jairus, and Anna finished school on Friday and summer break has officially begun.

We have been adjusting to life with four children. As we venture on in the newness of everything, it continues to be apparent that what we want and need to focus on is being free of as much "busyness" as possible. Relationships matter most! Busyness can become such a distraction from what is most important.

Abigail is settling in well. She seems to understand much more than she can communicate at this time, but she is starting to say some English words and phrases. Being around a lot of people is a little overwhelming for her. We took her to a wedding reception last night and she seemed afraid at first but then settled in and started playing with some of the other children there. When the dance music fired up she was "ready to dance!"

First time experiences for her include riding in the car with the window down and wind hitting her face with lots of giggles and excitement. Mexican food was a success at the restaurant here in town. She has begun to enjoy her "Celebrity" status in this small town where almost everyone we encounter already knows her name. She seems more used to having people come up to her to meet her. For those who don't know her name she is ready to tell them "Abby Guo Jin!" Macaroni and cheese is a hit, but peanut butter is plus or minus. She is learning to ride a bike with the training wheels. It is apparent that she probably has not done that before. Her favorite thing to do is play outside or inside with cars and trucks.

Our other children are overall dealing well with the stress of change and sharing their toys. John was able to stay off work this week which has been helpful. We are working on projects around the farm and trying to get into a routine as a family. Swim team will be starting soon, horses need to be ridden, everything is green and beautiful here right now. Thanks again for all of your prayers and support as we settle in! Blessings beyond measure from the Kelley's.
